What Foods Do You Miss Most as an Expat?


"Boxes of Kraft macaroni and cheese have the oddest effect on expats," tweeted one of my friends this afternoon. And even though I don't like Kraft macaroni and cheese, I could relate. The first time I tried the iconic American foodstuff was in middle school when I was living in Taipei, out of some desperate longing to eat something American. It was an exciting experience, until I ate it. (Of course, if I could go back in time I would've told my pre-teen self to eat more dumplings and bowls of beef noodle soup while I still had the chance.)

To any current (or former) expats, American or not, what foods do you miss most while living abroad?
