There's no denying that making fried chicken at home can be a chore. It's a chore that's sometimes worth it, but oftentimes better left to the professionals. If you're lucky enough to have a local fried chicken joint, more power to you. We're pretty happy with the fried chicken from Popeye's (particularly when you re-fry it at home).
That said, sometimes—usually on a Friday at just around beer o'clock—you want your fried chicken to have just a bit more... something. Flavor. Oomph. Whatever you want to call it.
At the same time, once you've turned off your email (yeah right) and cracked the first cold one, the last thing you want to do is slave away in the kitchen.
Don't worry. We feel your pain, and we're here to help.
To address these issues at this week's Fun Food Friday (in previous FFFs, we've messed with burgers and popcorn toppings), we've come up with seven recipes for seven different dipping sauces, each one with seven ingredients or fewer, designed to come together in seven minutes or less with absolutely no cooking.
They run the gamut, from an easy buttermilk ranch to a sweet and spicy Thai-style barbecue sauce to a clone of the dearly departed Delta sauce, formerly of the Popeye's chain and now only available at that great chicken-dipping station in the sky (and your own home kitchen, that is).
Take a peep through the slideshow for your options, or head straight to the recipes!
