This cocktail, from Jay Zimmerman of ba'sik in Williamsburg, is featured in Brooklyn Bartender by Carey Jones. Made with bourbon, fresh lemon, and citrusy Montenegro Amaro, it's a complex whiskey sour, packed full of flavor thanks to a pour of pamplemousse, a rich grapefruit liqueur. I particularly like this drink with Eagle Rare single-barrel bourbon and Combier's pamplemousse.
Triple Crown (Whiskey Sour Cocktail With Amaro) Recipe
1 ounce (30ml) bourbon
3/4 ounce (20ml) pamplemousse
3/4 ounce (20ml) fresh lemon juice from 1 lemon
3/4 ounce (20ml) Montenegro Amaro
Lemon twist, for garnish
Add bourbon, pamplemousse, lemon juice, and amaro to a cocktail shaker. Fill 2/3 full with ice and shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds.
Strain into a cocktail coupe, garnish with lemon twist, and serve immediately.
