Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
Welcome to our Weekend Cook and Tell where each Wednesday we turn the pages of the food sections of various national newspapers in search of inspiration for a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
Around these parts, we fall firmly in the sandwich lovers camp. This is easily evidenced by our A Sandwich a Day series. Mark Bittman, of The New York Times, writes on the bringing the art of sandwich making back. Bittman comments on the lost art of sandwich innovation, typically induced by the need for creativity with leftovers or recipe daydreaming.
Sandwiches have become a dish made by others or a rushed filler. My favorite mention within Bittman's article is in reference to Dagwood. Those sandwiches are legendary to all comic readers. What are the sandwich components of your dreams? Do you take pleasure in finding new ways to make new flavor combinations sandwiched between to carb-ridden loaves?
