Apple Pie in Peanut Butter Cream Sauce

Just another attempt to use what's made available at home. Plus, I'm intrigued by how apple pie is usually made. I still used phyllo dough for my crust since I had to finish it off first before opting to make the "real" thing. Guess I pretty much succeeded in doing so. And oh, I just found out that peanut butter tastes good with apples.

Total Time:  40-50 mins Active Time:  30 mins Number Serves:  5-8 servings

For the filling:

2 cups diced apples

1 tbsp cinnamon powder

2 tbsp honey

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup evaporated milk

2 tbsp strawberry syrup (for added flavor)

for the sauce:

1 cup peanut butter

2 tbsp butter

1/4 cup evaporated milk

3 tbsp honey

1. Combine apples and cinnamon in a separate bowl. When everything evenly incorporated, start melting butter into a pan. Cook away apples with cinnamon and combine all other ingredients (for the filling). Let it cook for 15 minutes on medium heat and another 15 mins on low heat.

2. For the crust, kindly refer to my previous recipe (I used a cylindrical aluminum pan for this). After which, put the filling into the crust and bake in the over at 350 for 40 to 50 mins. (

3. For the sauce, melt butter into a pan then add peanut butter, evaporated milk and honey. Stir continuously until smooth with thick/spreadable consistency.

4. Now you’re almost there. Transfer apple pie into a nice plate and spread the sauce on top or may be served separately.
