Welcome to the Weekend Cook and Tell. Every Wednesday we rifle through the the food sections of various national newspapers to create a weekend cooking project. We hope you'll cook along with us and share your experiences, recipes, and photos here.
Tomato season is finally upon us and I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say, I couldn't be happier. Tomatoes have been finding their way into every single meal that has come out of my kitchen since the first ones hit my local farmers' market in salads, sandwiches, pastas, well, you get the picture.
Amanda Gold of the San Francisco Chronicle has been incorporating tomatoes into her weekday lunches in tasty Steak Tacos Salad and Heirloom Tomato and Tuna Salad. For this week's challenge we want to know how you've been using your summer tomato crop. Have you been enjoying simply sliced tomatoes with sprinkling of salt, or perhaps the classic tomato and mayo sandwich on white? Have you dusted off the grinder to make your own passata (an Italian raw tomato puree)? We want to hear all about your tomato related eating and cooking adventures!
Show us photos of your creations on Photograzing (make sure to include "Cook and Tell" in your submission title), and tell us about your recipes here! If you'd like to blog the experience, please leave a link in the comments below. We'll post a round-up of your tomato madness next Wednesday.
