Baking with fresh-frozen blackberries

Last week, a friend of mind presented me with a quart of blackberries from her yard. These were frozen before her travels to keep them fresh. I'd like to make some sort of pie or perhaps a cobbler from them. My question is this: Do I need to adjust my recipe to account for their frozen nature? Most recipes i see call for fresh berries. Should I thaw and drain them? Thanks for your tips!
