This cocktail recipe comes from Toasted Oak Grill & Market just outside Detroit, Michigan. The drink is evocative of candied nuts, and it's ideal for serving alongside a gingerbread or spice-cake dessert. At Toasted Oak, they make this drink with Zeppelin Bend Straight Whiskey from local distillery New Holland Spirits. If you can't track that down, substitute any light, fruity unpeated Scotch. This isn't the place for the smoky stuff. Dumante Pistachio Liqueur is an especially fragrant and delicious pistachio liqueur; if you don't have it on hand you could try this drink with high quality amaretto.
- 2 ounces Zeppelin Bend Straight Whiskey or unpeated Scotch
- 1 ounce Pimm's No. 1
- 1/2 ounce Dumante Pistachio Liqueur
- 1/2 ounce Tawny Port
- Garnish: orange twist
In a mixing glass, stir together whiskey, Pimm's, pistachio liqueur, and Tawny Port with ice until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with orange twist.
