Melanie Haupt

Melanie Haupt earned her PhD in English at the University of Texas at Austin; her dissertation focused on women's food writing, from professional blogs to feminist vegetarian cookbooks to novels with recipes. In addition to her academic work, she is a blogger and freelance writer focusing on food criticism, up-and-coming dining culture, and historic Texas foodways. In 2013, she published Historic Austin Restaurants: Capital Cuisine through the Generations (History Press). She is particularly interested in the intersections of feminism and the food industry.
