The Easy, Indulgent Fig-and-Cheese Tartines You Should Make This Weekend

Taleggio Cheese and Mission Fig Tartine

Maybe it's because it's the end of the week, but what really appeals to me right now is the idea of kicking back in a lawn chair with a cold glass of white wine and a tasty little snack that's as easy to assemble as it is indulgent, like these delicious fig-and-Taleggio tartines. Problem is, I'm off to Mexico this weekend, so I'm going to be relaxing with tacos and tequila, not white wine and tartines.

Admittedly, that's not really a problem, because I'm freaking stoked, but still, I can't quite shake the mental image I just described, so I need to ask you all to do me a favor: This weekend, as I eat as many sopes, cemitas, tacos, and whatever else I can cram down my throat, go drink a glass of something crisp and cold, and throw together a plate of these open-faced sandwiches. We can take photos of our respective experiences and trade them on Twitter (my handle is in my bio down below). Let's live through each other vicariously!

And if you're feeling more ambitious than lazy, go ahead and check out the full roster of tartine recipes Kenji unleashed along with these fig ones. You could have a little tartine shindig.
