I don't know about you, but I find myself getting a serious arm workout once holiday cookie season rolls around. I spend countless hours rolling out gingerbread and sugar cookie dough to cut into little Christmas trees and snowmen. Sugar cookies can be bland, and gingerbread seems to be a bit of a divisive cookie, so sometimes I find myself wondering if they're really worth it.
Finally, though, I've found a cookie that is deserving of all of my hard work. These chocolate snowflakes have a deep chocolaty flavor, courtesy of unsweetened cocoa powder, and a good hit of salt. And the texture's one that even Goldilocks would approve of—not too soft, not too crisp, and just right.
The drizzle of icing and the delicate sprinkling of crushed candy canes dress them up and help make them just that tiny bit more festive. They're sweet and moreish and will most certainly turn any grinch into a glowing holiday elf. I mean seriously, who can resist a bit of chocolate?
And the best part about them? Stored in an airtight container, these bad boys will keep for a week and get a little better each day, as the flavors develop. Pack them off and send them to loved ones far away, or keep them for yourselves. We won't tell.
