This week also marked Niki's birthday, and if there's one thing to know about Niki, it's her all-consuming love of paper-thin-sliced prosciutto, to eat, to wrap around hunks of cheese, to wear as a facial mask. So we got her two pounds of it.
A boy and his antipasto
Daniel headed down to Atlanta for the weekend to judge tomato-based dishes and cocktails at the Attack of the Killer Tomato festival. Going clockwise, here he is (top center) with fellow judges Evan Mah of Atlanta Magazine, author/writer Jordana Rothman, Chuck Reese of the Bitter Southerner, and Costa Dillon—creator of the Attack of the Killer Tomato films (!!!).
What can't you do with a tomato?
There were so many amazing tomato dishes that it was almost impossible for Daniel and his fellow judges to pick a clear winner. One of the highlights: A massive cherry-tomato paella.
Before the tomato festival, Daniel took a speed tour through the Georgia Aquarium to check out some really cool big fish. That big guy (girl?) there is a whale shark.
