When I founded Serious Eats 8 1/2 years ago, I never in my wildest dreams imagined what it would become: the go-to website for millions of people for fantastic recipes, carefully tested cooking techniques, deep-dive reporting about iconic foods and cuisines around the world, and reliable, authoritative opinions about food and eating establishments of every stripe imaginable. But thanks to the Herculean efforts of our staff and contributors, and the appreciation of our beloved audience, that's just what happened. And though many media companies large and small took notice and expressed interest in acquiring Serious Eats, I held out to find the right partner, one that recognized the quality of our content and its value, and our potential for reaching even more serious eaters.
The right one came along in the form of a brand new digital media company, Fexy Media. Fexy's founders Cliff and Lisa Sharples and Ben Sternberg share our vision for what Serious Eats is now and what it can become, and wanted to provide the resources to get us there. We're thrilled.
So what does this mean for you? To put it simply, you're going to get more of what you love about Serious Eats in a spiffier form—we're hard at work on a redesign that's going to knock your socks off with big, beautiful photos and improved navigation. You're going to get more great feature articles about the most delicious food around, guides to where to eat wherever you are, and of course, loads of recipes and essential cooking techniques from Kenji, Daniel, and their kitchen crew. In addition to all that, we'll be expanding our video production; we're all excited for the forthcoming Food Lab video series starring Kenji and Katie Quinn. You can read more about the sale over in the New York Times.
Today we're celebrating what the sale really means: that you'll be getting more of what you love created by the same Serious Eaters you've come to know and appreciate. And for me, the overlord, that is friggin' awesome. Sometimes dreams really do come true.
