Kenji at His Proudest
Broth Taste Test
Nothing like starting your day with a mug of hot chicken broth! Actually, in this cold weather it was quite nice. Kenji made chicken broth in three ways (pressure cooker, slow cooker, and stovetop) to find out what makes the best broth. Read the results here! Here's Rabi, Miki, Ed, and Paul getting their broth on.
What to do with leftover broth? Kenji had a craving for wonton noodle soup, so he made a big batch for the whole office.
For our latest "Will It Waffle?" experiment, we tried waffling pierogies (specifically Mrs. T's). No one was more excited than Leandra.
Turns Out Pierogies Don't Really Waffle
Our first attempt resulted in semi-fail. We put thawed pierogies straight into the waffle iron; our second attempt with boiled pierogies turned out better.
Cheap Beer Taste Test
Today we tasted nine cheap beers for a Super Bowl-themed taste test. Let's never do this again.
Woohoo, cat action from Erin jackson!
"This is Pixel's best 'Who, me? No, I would never lick the raspberry tart you're defrosting on the counter for a Sweets post' face. And it is fooling no one!"
Cricket + Catfish Pita
And another cat from Dennis! Here's Cricket fixed on a catfish pita.

Winter Beach Time
Last weekend, Hambone and Yuba got some carefree running-on-the-beach time in Montauk.

Pigging Out at El Tenampa
Last Saturday we headed to El Tenampa in Greenwood Heights and ate
EVERYTHING A BUTTLOAD (all to be revealed in an upcoming post)! Tacos, tortas, sopes, soups, rice dishes, etc. Shared between 15 people, it ended up being the perfect amount of food. (As for that "floating" plate, it's sitting on top of a napkin dispenser.)
Serious Eaters in the back and in the front.
Get Ready for the Trough
After taco time, a handful of us headed to Ample Hills for the dessert of gluttonous kings: the Trough, a 9-inch Malty Salty Puddin' pie topped with eight scoops of ice cream, chunks of cookie dough and The Munchies (combo of pretzels, Ritz crackers and M&Ms), hot fudge, salted butter caramel, and whipped cream. Ideally you'd be sharing this with ten other people. Here's Max and a random excited customer basking in the Trough's glory.
Our Bodies Are Ready
Clockwise from top: Eric, Tracie, Mark, Melissa, and Janet, plus Max on the left.
Our group of seven could not entirely defeat the Trough, but we did a pretty good job. Max...he didn't feel so great after.
