The Lucky Rice Festival paid its second annual visit to Los Angeles on Saturday, with over 15 food vendors and a handful of individual mixologists from all around the Southland. Hosted by Sang Yoon, of Father's Office and Lukshon, the roster included an impressive array of local celebrity chefs, including Bryant Ng of Spice Table, Jet Tila of The Charleston, and Kris Yenbamroong of Night + Market.
Lucky Rice was founded four years ago in New York City by award-winning entrepreneur Danielle Chang. The Asian food festival has now transformed into a national soirée, making stops in Miami, San Francisco and Vegas in addition to Los Angeles and, of course, New York. Each event is a smorgasbord of oriental flavors with a modern flair.
This past weekend in Culver City, each bite paid homage to at least one region of Asia—whether in the form of lemongrass, black peppercorns, or spicy curry.
The venue was significantly larger this time around; there was little sign of overcrowding and there were more than enough libations to go around thanks to mixologists from the likes of Le Descarga, Hinoki & The Bird, and SoHo House.
