There will be many awesome DC-based restaurants at sweetlife: a music + food festival on May 11 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Find out more about what they'll be feeding us, and also, a chance to win two free tickets!
Chef Nick Wiseman of DGS, a Jewish delicatessen with a modern twist, will be serving hot dogs (all-beef) smothered in pastrami chili (meat on meat!) as well as plain dogs topped with the classic deli mustard, relish, and onions. And to wash it all down, cans of Dr. Brown's soda.
If you're more in the mood for beef tongue, Toki Underground will be serving beef tongue baan. What is baan, you ask? An exciting starch hybrid of Chinese bao and Indian naan. You can get a baan filled with pho-brined beef tongue, pickled papaya, charred scallions, aioli, crispy shallots, crispy garlic, and dress herbs. Toki will also be serving baan stuffed with housemade sour sausage, kaffir lime, mint, herbs, chilis, fresh ginger, and fried pork skin. Baanderful, right? Toki Underground chef Eric Bruner-Yang will also be selling his signature ramen and dumplings in the VIP section.
There will be plenty of veg-friendly options from Everlasting Life Cafe including vegan fried chicken sandwiches, kale salad, strawberry lemonade, and vegan cupcakes, as well as falafel sandwiches from Tadah.
