It's that time of the year again. Pull out the butter and protractors because it's time for our annual 2013 Pi Day Contest, which begins today and will run until March 18. Once again we're teaming up with the fun folks at Instructables to honor the math constant pi (3.14159...) on March 14 with many slices of its delicious homophone pie.
How to Enter
Share your best pie recipes and photos over on Instructables. Just make a free account, upload your pictures and text, and publish your entry at Instructables before March 18 at 11:59pm PST. Upon publishing your entry, you'll see checkboxes for open contests. Select "Serious Eats Pi Day Pie Contest." Your pie will also be saved on our Photograzing site, but might take a couple days to show up on there.
Entries need to be accepted by a moderator before they're officially entered in the contest. This usually happens quickly, but can take up to 48 hours. What matters is the submission time, not acceptance time. So if you enter it at 11:59pm on the last day, it can be accepted the next morning and still be in the contest. And then it's on to the...
After the contest closes for entries, voting is open to the public. You'll need an Instructables account to vote, and you'll have an extra three days after the contest closes, until March 21, to vote. These votes help determine the finalists. The final winners will be selected by the Serious Eats and Instructables staffs.
Not that you should need an incentive to eat more pie, but our grand prize winner will get an Apple iPad (16GB, Wi-Fi, Black). Or maybe we should call it a piPad?!
Three winners will get a special pie baking prize package from King Arthur Flour, which includes:
