Our last challenge for Weekend Cook and Tell was for all of you to share your puff pastry creations. We called this Puff Pastry FTW, Literally. Puff pastry is such a delightful medium to take dishes from "meh" to "wow." Take a look and see what dazzling dishes were shared for your viewing/cooking pleasure.
Juliasalbum LOVES puff pastry. "It's so versatile, easy to use and yummy!" We're inclined to agree. Julia gets high marks for tasty and stunning with her Puff Pastry Pizzas with Mushrooms and Bell Peppers. We could see this being served anywhere from a dinner party to the children's table.
Puff pastry has an added benefit for some - it's dairy free!. zahavah is one of those appreciative of this. She made a Tomato Tarte Tatin with Pomegranate Syrup. This recipe is both summer and winter friendly, as it calls for baby tomatoes.
LEsherick likes to add a honey and ricotta filling to cups of pastry. For Halloween, she is making cranberry eyes by cooking cranberries in sugar until they burst, topping the "eye" with a thickened juice, and placing them in a puff pastry cup. The result? A blood-red eyeball. Sweet and scary all at once
Finally, May_be uses puff pastry to make samosas. When she's looking for something to satiate her sweet tooth, she turns to vol-au-vent filled with lemon-scented crème fraîche and fresh raspberries. The textural elements provide a happy balance with a bit of crunch and velvety quality in each bite.
