I don't usually get too excited for chicken salad sandwiches, but I found this rosemary chicken salad ($9), on the brunch and lunch menus at Starbelly in San Francisco's Castro, pretty irresistible. The filling itself is great, tender shards of white meat bound with a healthy amount of excellent mayo and grain mustard, spiced and crunch-ed up with a jalapeño and radicchio slaw. But the bread's an equal star, chewy and crisp in all the right ways, but with a crust that's not so stiff it resists your bite. It's a sandwich that stays together as you eat it, meaning that in every sense, it's a sandwich that's easy to eat.
