Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
Schroeder prepares food that tributes mothers around the world, cooking the best of what they feed their families. There are lines for her spectacular weekend brunch and both the "Teenie Weenies" (franks in blankets) and pulled pork sliders rock happy hour.
Sandwiches, both hot and cold, are hearty and soul satisfying. The chopped liver is just like mother use to make, or didn't make but you wish she did. Another favorite: the roast beef with horseradish mayo and cheddar on a poppy kaiser, not an easy roll to find in PDX.
My absolute favorite sandwich though is the turkey reuben with house roasted turkey on grilled country bread, melted Swiss, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing. I wouldn't pass up their traditional version with tender, perfect corned beef, but the turkey Swiss combo always hits the spot. And for dessert, get the cobbler, Devil's food cake, or the brownie sundae.
