A Sandwich A Day: bg at Deli Board, San Francisco
A different sandwich profiled every single day.

It's a pleasingly San Francisco thing to open your business before it's really open, slinging heroes out of a takeaway window or coffees out of a cart—but eventually a sandwich piled this high needs a sit-down arena. Deli Board's sunny SOMA confines are just the place to unwrap a bg ($11), a warm bundle of thin-shaved brisket, pickled red onion, house sauce, French dressing, cheddar, sport peppers, and cole slaw. Sound like a lot going on within that toasty roll? There is, but salty, hefty brisket shouts out the loudest, cut only a little bit by the sweet sauces and the squirt of the sport peppers. And why is it special sauces always taste like tangy, relishy, Big Mac sauce? Not going to ask questions here, just going to savor the whole package—and the show-stopping pickle on the side.
