This holiday season has been chock-full of great new food-centric apps. This month we've already given away David Lebovitz' Paris Pastry as well as Pat LaFrieda's Big App For Meat. Another newly-released app we're loving: Sara's Kitchen, by Sara Moulton.
This iPhone app contains 60 recipes Sara selected from her three cookbooks accompanied by beautiful photographs. There are also ten exclusive instructional videos, such as "How to cut a butternut squash in half without killing yourself" and "How to peel and devein shrimp."
Fun fact: the app was shot entirely in the kitchen of Sara's New York City apartment, by our own Jessica Leibowitz. Sara cooked and styled each recipe herself, and she and Jessica had fun combing Sara's cabinets for different dishes and props to use in each shot. There's a tray that was a wedding gift from Julia Child, as well as these antique cordial glasses from Sara's grandmother, Ruth Moulton.
One of our favorite features of the app is the Shopping List, where the ingredients for your selected recipes are conveniently sorted by grocery aisle to minimize time spent weaving through the shelves.
You can download the app for $2.99 from the iTunes App Store, or...
Thanks to Sara Moulton, we have five (5) free download codes to give away to Serious Eaters. Codes must be redeemed within 4 weeks.
To enter this contest, all you have to do is tell us in the comments section below about your favorite recipe to cook on a snow day.
Congrats to our winners: sophieangeline, cagrant1, RJPetman, miss_maxine, and di.
