Occupation: student at Northeastern University
Website/Twitter: Considering signing up for Twitter...maybe.
Guilty pleasures? McDonald's double cheeseburgers. They're in a league of their own.
Describe your perfect meal. A dozen old-bay steamed blue crabs and an ice-cold beer. Grilled corn is optional, but my focus tends to remain on the CRABS.
What food won't you eat? Not a big banana fan. I can't definitively rule out many foods, especially if I've never tried them before. Although I had a durian popsicle once and it was pretty funky, so maybe durian?
What would you like to try but haven't yet? Bone marrow. I imagine it would be rich and decadent like foie gras. Plus you get to scrape it out of a bone.
Favorite food person? Jacques Pepin. He really brings food celebrity back down to earth. I just recently picked up his Complete Techniques and if you can believe it, it's more of a page-turner than the Harry Potter books. It has inspired me to attempt to master the basics of cookery. And have you seen that man make an omelet?
When did you first realize you were a serious eater? Maybe the first time I had sushi with my family. I was about 8, and I remember thinking how could something so strange be so delicious.
What do your family and friends think of your food obsessions? My family is right on board with me, since they are mostly responsible for my adventurousness with food. Fellow foodie friends rejoice with me, picky-eater friends mostly ignore my rantings.
Everyone has a go-to person they call for restaurant recommendations. Who's yours? My sister, Dana. We are practically the same person, but I guess she's older, has experienced more, and is wiser, etc. But we do have very similar food tastes, and have shared many great food moments together.
And what's the best recommendation she's ever given you? Neptune Oyster bar in Boston. I haven't found better seafood (especially raw oysters) anywhere.
Favorite food sites or blogs? I love grilledcheesesocial.com. The author makes different themed grilled cheeses using unconventional ingredients, turning a super basic meal into something unique. The photography is great, and grilled cheese is my go-to snack!
What is your favorite meal of the day and where do you get it? Breakfast. I'll make an egg or two over-easy with whatever toppings I can find. Rick's Picks pickled sweet corn relish ("handy corn") is a personal favorite.
Do you cook much? What's the best dish you make? I do cook occasionally, but when I do I follow recipes. Trying to make it a regular part of my routine, but I just love going out to new restaurants! I've got the pasta down, though. For real.
