Cook the Book: 'The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook'

Harry Potter series is filled with all sorts of fantastic magic, but some of the most memorable moments (in addition to the quidditch scenes, charms, and spells) are centered around the fantastic edibles that J. K. Rowling created.

We're talking about frothy tankards of Butterbeer, Rock Cakes, and exotic treats from Honeydukes. Lucky for all of us muggles, Dinah Buchholz has penned The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook a guide to recreating all sorts of witchy and wizardy vittles introduced throughout the series.

Just like Harry Potter, the fare served up in The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook has a serious sweet tooth with tons of Hogwarts-style candy, cake, and ice cream recipes (think Peppermint Humbugs, Mincemeat Ice Cream, and Spotted Dick). On the savory end of things, recipes are decidedly decidedly British, with a focus on hearty dishes for aspiring wizards like full English breakfasts and piles of Bangers and Mash. And for die-hard Potter fans, each recipe is annotated with the chapter of each book that it's mentioned in.

This week we'll be hopping aboard the Hogwarts Express and sharing Harry Potter inspired dishes including Pumpkin Pasties, Treacle Tart, and Paddington Burgers.
