Food Bloggers Rally Together for A Friend

You may know my dear friend Jennifer Perillo from her lovely food blog, In Jennie's Kitchen, or because you've seen her cooking advice and original recipes on the websites of the Food Network, Relish Magazine, and Working Mother, to name a few. You may have met her on Twitter, where she's reached out to a countless number of food lovers across the country, chatting about cooking and asking, "What are you making for dinner?" Jennie has a rare warmth that draws people toward her; she has a knack for turning random acquaintances or online conversations into real friendships.

Or maybe you don't know her yet, but her story may hit you hard, anyway. Jennie's husband died of a sudden heart attack a few weeks ago. They have two daughters, age 3 and 8. So now, as you might imagine, Jennie could use some support.

Food bloggers are pitching in. Maggy Keet of ThreeManyCooks, Erica Pineda-Ghanny of Ivory Hut, and Aimee Wimbush-Bourque of Simple Bites have founded a nonprofit charity, Bloggers Without Borders, to gather donations to help ease Jennifer's financial stress, and Shauna Ahern of Gluten Free Girl has organized an auction to help raise funds. Food bloggers are auctioning everything from baked goods to cooking classes, custom Wordpress blog design to a day of photography with a renowned food photographer.

Want to help? You can browse the complete list of auctions here or donate directly through Paypal to the Fund for Jennie campaign on Bloggers Without Borders. If you would like to auction something on your own site, email Shauna Ahern.
