After drooling over images from New York's Taste of the Nation, I got to experience the same level of indulgence in Los Angeles on Sunday. The sampling of sweet and savory bites, cocktails, and wine and beer raised money for Share Our Strength's campaign to end child hunger.
Octopus was the popular protein of choice, creamy custards dominated desserts, and cocktails tended toward gin and mint combos and beer floats.
Highlights included a soul-satisfying Sloppy Joe take on bolognese from Nancy Silverton's and Amy Pressman's Short Order, slated to open late-August or early September; a killer fried chicken ad corn bread from Lexington Social House; and Hatfield's insanely luscious tropical tres leches cake.
