What can the Brits munch on that Americans can't at the Golden Arches? For the most part, the menu is quite similar. There's the Quarter Pounder, the McNuggets, and the fries are even called fries, not "chips."
But there are a few things that you won't find in an American McDonald's—among them, a Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry and Mozzarella Sticks. (Actually, they're called "Mozzarella Dippers.")
The Mozzarella Dippers are surprisingly tasty; for £1.49, I wasn't expecting much, but these were no worse than a kid's meal at any American restaurant. The cheese could've been meltier; really, they end up tasting like string cheese with breading. But they didn't have that curious "McDonald's" taste that so much of their food shares; if you had told me they were from a sit-down restaurant, I would have believed you. The salsa dip, basically a thick marinara variant, was tasty enough but unnecessary.
The Cadbury Cream Egg McFlurry, on the other hand, was a total disappointment. The idea sounds awesome, and there's nothing wrong with the soft-serve (it's palatable) but the add-ins mess the whole thing up. The orange syrup, representing the "egg yolk," tastes like nothing, and doesn't pair particularly well with the chocolate chunks.
If you're passing through a McDonald's and want the new menu novelty, go for the mozzarella sticks. Perhaps Cadbury and McFlurry weren't a match made to happen.
