If I'd been a student at Harvard, Crema Café is probably where I would have spent quite a bit of time. The two-story coffee shop takes its food and drink seriously. The coffee is from George Howell, the tea from MEM, and the sandwiches are smart, well-crafted, and affordable.
Interesting vegetarian sandwiches are hard to come by, so I was excited to hear about this combo that features sweet potatoes ($6.95). The spuds are cut into slabs and packed between toasted Iggy's wheat slices with avocado, thin-sliced green apple, creamy hummus, and sprouts, and lightly dressed with caramelized shallot vinaigrette. Besides the sweet-tart mix of flavors, there's a lot going on texturewise with the creamy and crunchy elements, all of which adds up to a pretty satisfying study break snack.
