A Sandwich a Day: The Kimcheez at Gestalt Haus in San Francisco

A Sandwich a Day

A different sandwich profiled every single day.

In this great country of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year--so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around the country. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. --The Mgmt.

Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.

Things I know I want when I'm drinking beer: cheese. Things I learned I want when I'm drinking beer when eating The Kimcheez ($7) at Mission watering hole Gestalt Haus: kimchi. Oh, yes. The combination of sharp cheddar, crunchy, pungent kimchi, and rich, garlicky aioli is made to be enjoyed with a glass of quality beer (of which Gestalt has a fine selection), particularly when it's served on excellent quality marbled rye bread. The cheese could have been a little more melted and I could have gone for some more kimchi (the distribution was a little uneven as well), but overall, the sandwich packed an excellent punch of flavor. Kimchi and cheese: beer's best friends.
