Alaina's Baby Shower + Barbecue Chowdown
Both the Wilber's and Skylight pork shipped in from North Carolina were inhaled; the Wilber's disappeared slightly faster. We made sandwiches with Martin's potato rolls and poured on the vinegary sauce.
See our present for Alaina on the table? Good for one BOB Revolution stroller! The front wheel swivels for unmatched maneuverability. That baby will be getting an exceptionally smooth ride down the sidewalk!
The Most Serious Onesie
And for Dessert
In honor of all the chip-popping and game-watching this month, we want to find the best jarred salsa out there. Does it exist? Did we all feel sick after the tasting?* Stay tuned for the results! (Of course there were tortilla chips for palate cleansing).
* This is nothing compared to next week's blue cheese dressing tasting... blurbleughh (the official noise of blue-cheese-tasting-induced fear).

We Broke 10,000 Facebook Fans
Hip hip hurray! This was a bit of a landmark for us. Next goal: 100,000! Help us get there by liking us on Facebook. (But does Mikey like us? That's the question.)

Dumpling Likes Pizza
When Kenji was recipe-tasting for this week's Pizza Lab on making Sicilian-style Square Pizza at home, Mr. Dumpling couldn't contain his little pink tongue. [The slideshow's obligatory Dumpling shot.]
And Ed Likes Ice Cream
Luxxe Coffee Ice Cream from Sweet Rose Creamery (Los Angeles, CA)
I'm a big fan of what Zoe Nathan is doing at Huckleberry Bakery in Santa Monica (her maple bacon biscuit is pretty serious) so when I heard she was opening an ice cream shop last May, I knew we were in for a treat. Though I'm not a regular coffee drinker (crazy but true), I do enjoy coffee-flavored desserts (see also the Iced Cafe au Lait from Morning Call in Louisiana, in this slideshow).
Sweet Rose's Luxxe Coffee ice cream has deep, roasted flavors; you can really taste the dark grounds. With just a touch of sweetness, the emphasis is really on the coffee (they use beans from nearby Cafe Luxxe) and rich cream.
Given our mini fridge and freezer situation (we're in the process of getting a real kitchen), we had no choice but to down all of these before they melted into ice cream soup. Hurry, eat it all! Faster!
