Is an Indian taco technically a sandwich? According to Merriam-Webster, "one slice of bread covered with food" qualifies—and it also happens to be a pitch-perfect definition of the Indian taco ($5.99) at Oklahoma City's venerable Tim's Drive Inn.
A crispy-outside, funnel-cakey-inside piece of Navajo-style frybread supports a heap of lettuce, chopped tomatoes, onions, chili, beans, hot sauce, and a mountain of grated cheese. It might actually be the tallest thing for miles in this flat part of the country, and chances are it won't last long.
The sweet-salty combination of the fresh frybread dripping with chili juice and hot sauce ain't the easiest to eat (it's a strictly knife-and-fork affair), but this one vanished in under 10 minutes.
