The Lobster Roll at Neptune Oyster in Boston's North End is a spoiler. It will make you think twice about ordering other versions of this New England favorite. My choice is always the hot lobster roll with butter (shown in the photo). They also offer it cold with mayo. Either one will cost you $25 and will be big enough to share, if you're feeling generous.
I begin with a fork, clearing the overflow of perfectly-cooked, buttery lobster and trimming it to a manageable size. Then I can pick it up and enjoy the combo of lobster and roll. At Neptune, what looks like an oversized hot dog bun is actually brioche.
