Cook the Book: 'Mad Hungry'

20100201madhungry.jpgLucinda Scala Quinn has a lot of men in her life: four brothers, three sons, and a husband. As a chef, food writer, and host of Everyday Food on PBS it's not surprising that on top of all her food-related professional duties she's also responsible for feeding the many hungry men in her life.

With so many dudes around, Quinn has learned that men eat differently from women, not just in volume and frequency but also where, what (anything they can get their hands on), and how (in front of the fridge). Her recently released cookbook, Mad Hungry is a survival guide to feeding men and teaching them how to feed themselves with simple, hearty recipes that are healthy, quick to get on the table, and satisfying.

Quinn's ultimate goal in Mad Hungry is to not only feed her guys but also to ease them into the kitchen and make home-cooked meals a daily part of their lives instead of take-out, high calorie snacks, and fast-food.

Every day this week, in preparation for one of the manliest Sundays of the year, we are going to share dude food recipes from Mad Hungry, especially party food like Beef Empanadas, Fried Chicken, and Potsticker Dumplings to make sure your Super Bowl party is well stocked with more than just a bag of chips and can of sour cream and onion dip.
