Last week we asked you to dine in the great outdoors with our Weekend Cook and Tell: Picnic challenge. The only prerequisite for this challenge was to eat a meal al fresco, and with last weekend's summery weather we've gotten some great picnic-related responses. Here are some of our favorites:
A simple bacon, tomato, and mayo sandwich with some potato salad and snap peas from the garden was lemonfair's summer lunch in a community garden.
Both missjess and mr guy shared two great pieces by Mark Bittman, 101 20-Minute Dishes for Inspired Picnics and 101 Simple Meals Ready in 10 Minutes or Less. Both of these are filled with wonderfully simple summer meal ideas.
Kirbie hosted a patio barbecue. The menu included grilled corn, drumsticks, hot links, brats, sausages, cheese and garlic biscuits, cornbread pudding, chocolate chip cookies and guava mousse cake. Check out the spread over at Kirbie Cravings.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this week's Weekend Cook and Tell. We hope you enjoyed this summer challenge and we love to see what all of you are cooking up at home. Make sure to head over to Talk to read about next week's challenge, Tomatoes!
