Cheap Eats, Upper West Side

Pinch (Pizza by the Inch) and S'MAC (Sarita's Macaroni and Cheese) have just opened a joint venture on Columbus between 82nd and 83rd

If you like Thai food, check out Lime Leaf, on Broadway at 107th

On Broadway at 98th is Cafe Viva - all-natural, vegetarian and vegan-friendly pizza. Not much atmosphere for sitting, but cheap and quite delicious

The Columbia area is great for student-friendly prices, as you might imagine. Not for lunch, but coffee & dessert: try the Hungarian Pastry Shop on Amsterdam at 111th. And right across the street is the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, with its sculpture garden ready for exploration.

Enjoy your stay!

Cheap Eats, Upper West Side

Barney Greengrass -- one of the best delis in the city, IMHO; great for breakfast; not cheap, but not outrageously expensive either

Bar Boloud -- relatively cheap way to experience Daniel's awesome talent

Gray's Papaya -- duh; NYC institution; gotta eat hot dogs, right?

Hummus Place around 75th(?) -- name says it all

Saigon Grill -- cheap, fast, super fresh, Vietnamese

Land -- excellent affordable Thai place up in the 80s

Pio Pio -- Peruvian

Hampton Chutney -- good Indian, affordable

Zabar's -- deli style, bargain for what you get

Lenny's -- not as good as the others, but still good; deli lunch or breakfast

Have fun!
