It's Pimm's O'Clock!

A Pimm's cup was the first cocktail I ever tried. I learned of its existence through ER (an episode where Elizabeth takes teetotaler Peter to a Chicago pub and tells him to order a Pimm's cocktail since it "tastes like lemonade"), which I watched just a few months before my first trip to the UK. I knew that we were going to visit a pub at one point. I didn't like beer, but still wanted something authentically "English" that I could order without sounding like an imbecile or taking an hour to pick out a drink.

I think I will have one this weekend while watching the newest episode of Doctor Who, since I'm unlikely to make it to London again anytime soon. :-)

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Fortune Cookie Chronicles'

I keep my most memorable fortune in a small picture frame on the table where I do most of my school work. I was having a rough writing day and was munching on tea and cookies in a bout of work-avoidance. When I opened a fortune cookie from the previous night's feast, I found this little bit of advice.

"Begin...the rest is easy."

Hey, it's better than sticking one of those inspirational posters up on the wall.
