Brilliant writing, much appreciated! It's good to know that there are others out there who try to scrimp and save but then, against all better judgement, give in to food lust and buy artisanal chocolate and premium Japanese sencha.

For stuffings, if I can't put it inside a bird (which is really the only way to fly, let's be real), then the Cornbread Stuffing Muffins with Ham and Sage sounds tasty. I've always liked the crispy bits that stick out the end of a bird and making stuffing muffins exposes a lot more surface area to get crispified. :)

For turkey alternatives, my immediate favorite is Pumpkin Ravioli with Brown Butter and Sage Sauce. There's something about pumpkin, sweet potato, or yam pasta that just does it for me (nevermind how tasty the sage sauce sounds).

For breads, I'd have to say the Buttermilk Biscuits with Green Onions, Black Pepper, and Sea Salt. The recipe had me at buttermilk and the addition of green onions is the cincher.
