New Orleans: 25 of the Best and Strangest Po' Boys at the Oak Street Po' Boy Festival

I'm usually a purest in just about anything I'm passionately interested in, and I'm interested in Po Boys and just Love em. To me the purest one are without a doubt the best, especially the Peacemaker, aka Oyster Loaf (Fried Oyster Po Boy), or half Shrimp 1/2 Fried Oyster, Yummm!!!! However in the case of alternate Po Boys (New Ones), not of the norm, I'm all for, just as long as the Classics never disappear. And as far as Classics are concerned, I'm sure that if one of these new ones (so-called alternative "Not Pure") is really tasty and becomes hugely popular, overtime the might become Classics themselves. Let's not forget people, that food is never ending and changing over time. Different cusines that is. What is not a classic today, can very well over time (10,20, 30, 40 years), can become one.
As for the name of this great sandwich of the great city of New Orleans, the Po Boy or Poor Boy, they are interchangeable and both acceptable, though for many years the name Po Boy has been more popular than Poor Boy, as it is now in this day and age. Let us not forget that the original name was Poor Boy and its still just as strong and valid today, it's just that most choose the word Po Boy and many (Tourists) don't even know that it that it is also a "Poor Boy."
I'm a New Yorker who Loves New Orleans, the people, the Music, the architecture, the Food, the City, and "Yes" the Poor Boys.

Do You Know These Regional Pizza Styles?

Deep-Dish is "NOT PIZZA" so Please don't call it that. It's a abomination of typical American Style Crap and Slop. It should be called "Chicago Deep Dish" Never Pizza, it is not Pizza. Real Pizza is made all over Italy, in New York, New Jersey, and New Haven. Try it!

Must-have burgers in NYC?

5 of New York's TOP BURGERS
1) Shake Shack gets my vote for New Yorks "BEST BURGER" It is the
Quintessential American Burger, not too Fancy, no unnecessary elements,5
cooked on a Flat-Top Grill the way any Great Burger should be, just about
the right size5-6 oz., Excellent Quality Meat, and Cook properly to Tasty
Perfection! PS...the Price is right!! Not $26 or even $15 or $16! Yumm,
the BEST!!!
2) LUGER BURGER...... Excelleent Burger in a Great local. one of the
Best-Price-Per Value, which you have to factor in to any Great Burgers
rating, "$26 is just WRONG (Black Label Burger at Minetta) any Burger
that cost more than $ Luger Burger is a steal at just $9.95, get some of
the Tasty Luger Bacon to go with it, and maybe some Creamed Spinach
and your set. Luger Burger at Lunch is one of NY's Best kept food
secrets. Try it some time!
3) Bills Bar and Burger. Plain and simple, Great Burger at a dam good
price with just the right ambiance for a Burger and Beer. Talkin about
the Original in the Meatpacking Dist. here. Haven't been to the new one
in Rockefeller Center.
4) "Minetta Burger" not the "Black Lable Burger which is OVERPRICED
and does not taste anywhere near as Good as The Minetta Burger
which at $16 is just right. It is a Tasty Prime Burger served with a big
mound of Fries that all of "Keith McNally's" Bistros are Famous for,
they're the best in Town. And the ambiance at Minetta Tavern is
awesome. It just can't be beat. So if you go to Minetta Tavern for a
Burger, get the Best and Tatstiest one they make, make sure you
order the "Minetta Burger" it greattttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5) BISTRO BURGER at the Corner Bistro. This Burger probably won't
make it into a lot of people Top 10 anymore, but before Burgers were
a huge Fad and Cool, before there were Blogs and 100,0000s of
people rating Burgers, The "Bistro Burger" at the "Corner Bistro" in
New Yorks Greenwich Village Was New Yorks "Top Burger" for some
30 Years! Yes! Year after Year, decade after decade the Burgers at
the Corner Bistro was rated the BEST by the only peopel who really
rated or reviewed Burgers for a long time; New York Magazine, the
NY Times, Cue Magazine, The NY Post, Village Voice, and the
Daily News. Yes, i have been disappointed by the Burger a few times
in the past few years, not always the best, but often times it is
Pretty Dam Good and for the fact that its only $6.50 for a Cheeseburger
and you can get a $3 beer too but, combined with the feel of one of
New yorks last remaining Old-School Bars and for its Nostalgic,
historical value, and 30 Year Reign as NY's Top Burger, you just gotta
include the Corner Bistro amongst your BestBburger Joints in NYC.

The Best Croissant in New York

Once again you've "Missed" the Best when you do a Best of piece. Best Croissants in New York are at the "Hungarian Cafe" Amsterdam and 113th Street acroos from the Cathedral of St John the Devine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coffee Chronicles: In Search of the Legit Affogato

If you want the Best Affogato from a "Real" Italian Caffe, forget those above and run over to "Caffe Dante" on McDougal Street in Greenwich Village. Dante has been making Affogato for "Years" (60) not months like those mentioned in the article..

WORST BURGER in NEW YORK

What's the Worst Burger you ever had in New York. I don't know if it's the Worst, but the BURGER I had at Balthazar the other day was "HORRIBLE," It BLOWS. What a Big disappointment. Met a friend over there the other day for a Burger and a Beer. Was looking forward to a good Burger, but No! The thing was horrible. A ripoff of $18, and a Big-Time Disappointment.
I've gotta say. I've eaten at Balthazar many times over the years and have always loved it. Always had a good time and enjoyed my meal. They do great, solid Bistro Food, but maybe they should stick to French Bistro Food. Their Burger is "AWFUL" Or better yet, improve the Burger. I'm sure they can do it. Keith McNally is a genius. Well a restaurant genius anyway. Get better meat, season and cook the burger better, do something, cause the Burger being served now at Baltahzar Sucks! Literally!!!
I don't know if it's the worst Burger I ever had in New York, but it's pretty dam near to it, and it was a major disappointment.
What's your worst burger experience?
