Cook the Book: 'Dolce Italiano, Desserts From the Babbo Kitchen'
My favorite is a cake from Parma called the Torta Baroli. It's a flourless chocolate cake made with ground almond, coffee, and is wonderful. People are in shock when they eat it.
The recipe is in "The Splendid Table" by Lynne Rossetto Kasper.

Afogato combines two of the great Italian culinary arts-- espresso and gelato. I love that the first bite tastes nothing like the last as the gelato melts and the coffee flavors take over.
