Do You Compost Your Food Scraps?

I used to - when my building had a green bin. But we moved to a larger building and now we don't have one. I feel guilty every single time I throw away something compostable. And our trash is MUCH grosser than it was when we had a separate compost. If I had a yard I'd maintain my own bin. Maybe someday.

I started eating meat recently and am a bit overwhelmed. Help?

I think I might do short ribs! Thanks for the recipe!

And believe it or not, I never liked bacon even when I did eat meat and a bite of it not long ago confirmed it for me.

Labor inducing foods!

any more ideas? i'm over a week overdue and ate half a pan of the eggplant parm that's supposed to kick it in. nope. been eating everything with tons of hot sauce. nope. been walking, walking, walking. nope. they're threatening to induce me at the hospital which i'd like to avoid. i'd much rather eat something delicious than be hooked up to an iv line!

Cook the Book: 'How to Cook Everything The Basics'

Knead the Book: King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking

i've been making my family whole wheat pancakes and oatmeal raisin cookies lately and they haven't noticed. i'd like to be able to trick them more.

Jim Lahey's No Knead Pizza Dough

@doisedois i actually made calzones tonight with this dough. it was definitely the stickiest dough i've worked with to date, but since you don't have to spend much time handling/kneading it, it doesn't really matter. the calzones turned out fantastic. i froze half the batch, i'm curious to see how it holds up after sitting in the freezer for a week or two). i used KA BF and active yeast instead of instant so i just made it a heaping 1/4 tsp instead of a straight one. baked them at 450 since that's about the limit of my oven. i would definitely use this recipe again.

I don't really know why - I just had a craving for roasted chicken and a couple days later roasted some chicken and ate it (and loved it!). I quit eating meat when I was 16 and I'm in my early 30s now. So since the chicken incident, I've tried a tiny bite of steak (not really my thing) and salami sandwiches (really my thing!).

What should I try making next? Also it's my husband's birthday next week and I'd like to surprise him with a nice dinner. Maybe short ribs? Or should I make a pork dish because I like salami more than steak? See, I'm confused!
