Come on in 'The Kitchn'

my iphone works pretty well in the kitchen... in fact i thought the ipad was pretty sad until about 34 seconds ago when i read this post... a 500$ cookbook is semi exciting.... if only it could do the dishes and make my coffee.... it would really make an ugly cookbook holder look spectacular.. but alas 500$ is ALOT of tasty dishes I can cook up..... speaking of anyone have any AMAZING cookbooks they can recommend for about 20 clams?

I need a potluck dish to wow 'em

I've done this stewed beef dish a few times and it's always a hit.. There are just always so few hot dishes to choose from! I serve with mini corn tortillas and all the fixins (chopped cilantro, onion, salsa, guac) topped with a spicy cabbage slaw and I never take any food home!

Thankgiving side dish ideas - HELP!!

as crazy as it might sound I never had mashed potatoes with Thanksgiving dinner until I moved to Chicago from New Orleans a few years ago. For me its all about grandmaws Oyster Stuffing and New Orleans Dirty Rice (an not the kind from the box in the grocery store).

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Extreme Cuisine'

I cooked up a variety of bugs a few weeks ago at an event where I work called Bug-a-Palooza. On the final menu for the day were ant brood, crickets and mealworms, but while testing recipes the weeks before I dined on a variety or critters including: giant water bugs, waxworms, mole crickets, bamboo worms and silkworm pupae! I can't say that I recommend all of them but it was an interesting experience!
