Spice Hunting: How to Keep Those New Years Resolutions with Spices

I can't agree more. We actually have one bin in our freezer devoted to spices and herbs like, Pimenton, Chipotle powder, Z'ahtar, Herbs d'Provence, Lime Leaf, and Lavender flowers. They keep totally fresh in the freezer and do make veggies and low fat protein taste way better!!!

Old Fashioned Latkes

There is nothing better than a perfect crisp latke! Chez Robaire in Armonk NY serves them with a dollop of sour cream and a spoon of salmon caviar...delish! They are even good the next morning, heated up in the toaster oven and served with a fried egg on top.

What is Your Favorite Panini?

Rustichella is absolutely my favorite Italian sandwich (Panino or Panini - only a bitch would care). These are available all along any Italian Autostrade (or is it autostradi) at the Autogrill. Best panini ever. Also available in the US at Chez Robaire in Armonk, NY.

Daily Slice: Pepperoni Slice from Paolo Pizzeria in Philadelphia

My daughter is presently in Milan Italy. Does anyone know any great pizzerias or pizza restaurants to suggest???

Daily Slice: Fornino, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

I recently ate at Fornino and had three pies: a small Pesto, a small Gorgonsola, and a large Margherita. Each one was truly delicious especially the Gorg which I thought was going to be too rich, but it was perfect. I even loved the pesto although I generally am not a pesto fan at all. The pizza at Robaire's in Armonk, NY are just as good and half the price so make your choice.

What do You Eat for Breakfast the Day After Thanksgiving?

Nothing beats leftover sausage stuffing reheated until it gets a little crunchy around the edges, with a 2 fried eggs sitting on top. Chez Robaire in Armonk NY has ithis on their post TG menu every year

26 NYC Sandwiches We Love

You have to be kidding not to mention the Oyster Poh Boi at Robaire's in Armonk, NY. It's where New Orleans meets Saigon.

Sunday Brunch: Bacon Cheddar Broiled Grits

Chez Robaire in Armonk NY prepares grits in a similar way but uses Pancetta instead of the bacon and Parmigiano Reggiano instead of Cheddar. They serve it with 2 fried eggs on top and a drizzle of Truffle Oil. I dare say you haven't tasted grits like this....add a Belini for the ultimate brunch!

The Nasty Bits: Pigs' Feet

I've made Pigs Trotters several times and unfortunately I have been uniformly disappointed each time. I like the idea, but there just isn't enough meat or even digestible fat to make it worth my while. I do love your idea of braising in Kecap and finishing on the grill with the kecap, honey and siracha. One last thing; you should seriously consider writing about food professionally. Your prose and style are beautifully put together and a joy to read.

Eddie's Pizza Truck to Open Thursday, June 10

OMG - I've been telling people about Eddies pizza for 20 years(more like 40 years). I discovered Eddies in New Hyde Park in 1968. I never could believe that that a place that was basically a coctail lounge with a pin ball bowling machine could make the BEST pizza ever. It is similar in style to John's on Bleeker St. The crust is paper thin and charred on the bottom with big beautiful charred bubbles of crust on the perimiter. I'll seek out the truck on the first day.

My Sigh Saturday: How Not to Grill Pizza

Too bad!!! Memorial day is a perfect pizza day. We ate at Chez Robaire in Armonk and had one of the best pizzas ever. Goat cheese, pepper jack, roasted tomato, pancetta, and arugula. The crust was crispy and slightly charred on the bottom; the cheese was runny, and the arugula added a nice freshness. It was finished with a drizzle of Truffle oil for rich earthiness. Yumm.

A Sandwich a Day: Momofuku Ssam Bar BBQ Rib Sandwich

BBQ Rib? Bah Mi? Here is a Sandwich that David Chanhg himself would love. As "fusion" as a sammie gets. New Orleans on vacation in Saigon: The Oyster Poh Boi from Chez Robaire's in Armonk NY. Crispy fried oysters, oven roasted pork belly, pickled carrot and cucumber, cilantro, Kewpie Mayo and siracha on a toasted Ciabatta baguette.

What's The Best Sandwich You've Ever Had?

Very few people know how good Jewish Corn bread is. It has nothing to do with American Corn bread. It is more like a very dense Rye bread with a thick crust and moist interior. Chez Robaire in Armonk makes sandwiches on Jewish Corn bread that can't be beat. One of the best is served once a year during Super Bowl. It is composed of Rare Roast Beef, Jarlsburg Cheese, Bacon, Virginia Ham, Roast Turkey, Lettuce, Tomato and Russian dressing(their own secret version) on toasted Jewish Corn Bread.

Egg in Toast: What Do You Call It?

One of my favorite things growing up!!! Butter the bread and grill on both sides in a skillet as you would a grilled cheese. Take out a small circle of bread from the center. Place a fired egg in the hole in the center and you have a MOON!!
