Cocoa Puffs: Gateway Drug to Veganism

As a veg, I have two points:

1. I agree... that list really bothers me in that it still supports consuming transfats, processed oils and sugars, excessive packaging... boo. And the girl frankly *is* a bit scary.

2. Soymilk isn't a cure-all for a substitute. In hot chocolate and in baked goods, you'd never know, so for your question, yes, soymilk rocks. Try using it in coffee though ~ YUCK! It coagulates! Bluck.

3. Fake meats aren't about trying to fool anyone or about being "cool" like everyone else (yes, something I've been accused of). Not all veg*ns go veg bc they don't like some meats though... it's for environment, or health or animal cruelty, etc. I won't touch pork, but Gimme Lean "sausage" is dang tasty ~ drier than real sausage, but still really good. And *certain* fake-bacons are really good with tomato on a sandwich. And I don't have to worry about the saturated fats or cholesterol. :)

4. Yep, some veg*ns are downright obnoxious with forcing their views. I apologize for their behavior and hope not to be clumped with them. :)

OK, that was four points... sorry.

No matter what you're eating, enjoy it! Happy Serious Eats to you!

This amused me. The longest running vegetarian I knew was not very healthy. He was overweight, had high blood pressure and ate a lot of not so whole foods. He had been a vegetarian since 1976.
Being a vegan and making good choices are not mutually exclusive.
