Down Home With The Neely's Dilemma!

The Neely's need to go back to Memphis and watch Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, "Barefoot Contessa," Jamey Oliver and Iron Chef to learn how to "cook" on a cooking show. I do not like how they talk and ramble about everything expect for cooking. "Big Daddy" this give me a "kick" here sounds so juvenile and inmature and I am an African-American Southern woman writing these comments.

Food Network, this is supposed to be a "cooking show" not tips on how to please your mate. Pat would be ok if Gina left because he seems serious and all she does is laugh and make "stupid and inappropriate" comments. Children may watch this show and unless they start acting like professional chefs, Food Network needs to "can them!" Please listen to our suggestions and comments

The Neely's are supposed to be professional chef's and all they do is play and act like children. Cooking is hardly involved, but there is a lot of kissing, touching and inapporpiate comments which do not belong on a cooking show. As an African-American Southern woman with a family, this show is totally offensive to me because it is just like a stupid "sitcom."

Food Network please, please, give us a professional and serious cooking show and not an idiotic, cheap imitation because we deserve better than that. Pat can stay because he seems dedicated and serious, but Gina and that "screeching" voice can head back to Memphis!

Stop laughing every minute and cook, if not Food Network "can" that horrible unprofessional cooking show1

I personally dont mind the neely's...they're real. Its not just -mix this add that bake it and bam theres ur dish- They're obvisouly very happy together. But just to see a married couple laughing and cooking together is so great. Theres nothing wrong with her calling him bid daddy or whatever. So What! They're always smiling laughing and sometimes they are a -pick me up- And they get their food cooked. This is what cooking is about....it's what makes it fun. I hate standing over the stove by myself quitely cooking. it nice to chat and what not, it makes u WANT to be standing over that hot stove. And for all of you that want them off the air because they love each other too much, ur crazy. They r happy with each other and not ashamed to show the world how they feel. And thats probably y their food comes out so good. So dont hate. You all sound like u haven't had love like that b4. cuz if u did u should understand. Its a new day, n worse things r on tv. This is real love. watch it and enjoy it.

This show is no surprise to me. It is just another affirmation that FN is going
down hill rapidly.

I kinda wish I had FN just to se what is going on. :) To bad they don't stream the shows online like the networks do.

I am African American and am embarrassed by the Neely's. It should be a show you could watch with your parents, grandparents and children. Gina's spice fairy routine is annoying. Her banter especially when she said her grandmother told her how to get a man "here(heart), here(stomach) and "down there" was so repulsive! I do enjoy Pat's quiet manner. I think they can cook a lot more than just BBQ. Their Road Tasted with the Neely's shows some great places but Gina trying to be the center of everyone's attention makes the show a loser. I was hoping the show would be a positive portrayal of a middle to upper class African American family who lives in a nice house, works hard and enjoys cooking. If I wanted to hear about their "passion" I would think that would be on a different channel.

Paula Deen used to be a favorite but she and Gina are the same ... too vulgar and it is very uncomfortable to watch.

@RoseL ~ I can only speak for myself, but as a person fascinated by food, there is ZERO room on my DVR for Fake reality television. Go figure.....

I LOVE the Neely's. Their playful banter comes across as 100% genuine. I don't know how anyone can be grossed out by it or find it inappropriate. It's a beautiful thing to me to see a married couple who obviously adore each other. Funny.....people don't seem to be bugged by the psycho personalities and disgusting behavior on some of these reality shows, yet when a MARRIED couple show some passion, they get upset? Go figure.

TVFN has a terrible habit of confusing the word "chef" with "cook."

Another Foodnetwork classic example of putting people in front of the camera who think they are entertainers instead of teachers. What I have learned lately is that some home "chefs" have graduated from this level of questionable education and move on. There are so many good cooking shows on PBS (and a few on FoodNW). We need only point our remote control at our TV and move on to what pleases us.

I have been watching the Neely's since the beginning. Overtime, I have found Gina to be far too anoying. I have noticed that Pat tries to tell some small stories about certain dishes, and immediately Gina cuts him off. I do enjoy watching him. I get the feeling that if he does not indulge Gina in her need for attention, he will have hell to pay. I love the recipes. Can someone just ask Miss Gina to tone it down, so we don't have to turn them off.

Back when Giada first came on, my then 21 year old college son told me it was "soft porn" and that he never missed it. His affection for Giada turned into a genuine love of cooking. She was never trashy or overtly sexual: the camera work and the pace of the show made it sensual.
