Baking With Dorie: All-in-One Holiday Cake

Leave it to that pesky turkey to take up all the room in the oven huh. This bundt cake recipe sounds really delicious. I created a blog along with Safeway to provide tips, inspiration, and information to make Thanksgiving a little less stressful and a little more extraordinary. Check it out at http://turkey.safeway.com/blogcfm/.

This is a *fabulous* cake! And really easy to make. I have tried my share of 'off the web' recipes, and I have to say this is hands down my favorite one. Cranberries are a great touch. I also made a tiny cake in my daughter's IKEA bundt pan, and it came out great, so one could make muffins too. The only suggestion I have is to lightly toast pecans before mixing them into the batter. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Is unsweetend pumpkin puree a can of Libbys or am I looking for something different?

Thanks so much Dorie. I made a double batch of your madeleines recipe for my in laws who lived in France. I know they will be happy.
So glad you are here with us on SE.

Yes, yes, you can freeze *unbaked* biscuits and scones and then bake them when you need them. Ditto cream puffs. It's almost like magic. Shape the biscuits etc., put them on a lined baking sheet, freeze them, then, when they're completely frozen, pop them into airtight plastic bags. Add a couple of minutes to the baking time and voila!

Turkeytalk, hope I didn't hurt the feelings of your pet product, but it really is BIG and can be pretty demanding, too. I know, spoken like a baker.

JEP, you're right -- this bundt could happily replace fruit cake, although I do love fruit cake.

This cake can certainly be appropriate all thru the upcoming holidays---sounds like my delicious alternative to a fruit cake :)
