paris paris.
will be in paris for the last week of may and would love to hear your best secrets. pastries, bars, markets, lunch, dinner, dessert. any little tidbit would be wonderful...
cochon cochon cochon. lunch or dinner.
yes, the combination is divine. one of my favorite restaurants serves a signature salad year round with baby greens, avocado, grapefruit, cottage cheese, and chili jam. wonderful contrast of flavors and textures, and delicious during any season!
smoked salmon and cream cheese on german bread with viennese coffee.
porcelain teacup
in a viennese cafe
divine cocoa joy
siggi's is delicious.
tasty bites (indian food in a bag cooked in boiling water). somehow these taste divine while camping.
a nectarine from a paris open market on the airplane ride to barcelona. a fuji apple picked from my friend's tree while it was pouring rain. wild strawberries from upstate new york, taste like candy.
linguini with butternut squash, golden raisins, kale, onions, and parmesan cheese. two glasses of wine and a perfect brownie during obama's speech.
black pudding ---sausage made by cooking blood with a filler until it is thick enough to congeal when cooled.
amedei chocolate.
all the time! a meal alone can be so luxurious and peaceful. i love eating at bars--the little owl is great if i can walk in, sushi bars, or today i had a lovely late lunch at cafe cluny which was empty around three o'clock. they gave me the window seat and i had the most amazing skate with chanterelles, leeks, and arugula. i agree with sneakeater on that there is absolutely NO stigma to eating dinner alone in this city. be bold!
buttery salmon sashimi or smoked eel atop a bed of rice.
papatzul is not what you're looking for if you're looking for good authentic mexican or california mexican.
Serra da Estrela cheese from the northern Dao region. A heavy goat cheese that you literally spoon out from the inside of the rind and spread on your baguette like you would a creamy butter, it’s probably Portugal’s most famous cheese and a true cheese lover’s holy grail. Amazing.
fluffy vanilla angel food cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. my mother makes the best whipped cream--it's never too sweet or stiff. mmm
i am going to the Chelsea Market After Dark Hosted by Bobby Flay! can't wait. bobby's a babe.
bread pudding at peasant.
from the fairfax scoop (in a waffle cup, a genious and environmentally -friendly invention) or bi-rate creamery. at home in a porcelain ice cream dish with my antique silver spoon and lots of toppings...berries, macadamia nuts, homemade granola, the list goes on...with a splash of whole milk to get it melty.
sea salt and chocolate.
cheddar cheese and apple pie.
blue cheese and anchovies.
curry and bananas.
genovese omelette: basil pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, jack cheese and pine nuts.
tinto de verano (equal parts seltzer and red wine with ice and a slice of lemon). very popular in spain during the hot, hot summers. iced green tea. gazpacho. frozen bananas. cold watermelon. lots of salad with plain lemon juice dressing.
some red camping one that was soft and insulated. i was envious of others' brown bags or cute tin ones. i also was one of the outcast kids, but now i realize now how lucky i was. my mother would put together the craziest lunches, always organic, of course. cheese and spinach tortellini with olive oil, cracked pepper, and parmesan cheese was my favorite, but the tupperware always leaked and my lunchbox and i smelled like delicious oil and herbs all day. she would also throw in wildcard items like giant dill pickles, banana chips, or slices of tillamook cheddar cheese. if we were good we'd get 'sundrops' for dessert: basically carob m&m's.
barbara's shredded wheat! or lydia's raw cereals.
i cannot believe i am saying this, but to be really authentic you could eat magnolia cupcakes with your cosmos. i am not a fan of their baking, but it would be in very much in the theme of sex in the city. if i were you i would just get some cupcakes from your favorite bakery. if you want something savory and your friends have a sense of humor you could buy some penis-shaped pasta (they sell it at sex shops) and cook that up. have fun! i am in madrid so i have to wait until the end of june to see it.

did anyone dine out at a restaurant for thanksgiving? if so, where did you go, why did you choose the place, and most importantly, what did you order?
a light, flaky almond croissant with a cup of coffee can make any afternoon a divine one... What is your pastry of choice, and at what time of day do you prefer to indulge?
tudogostoso hasn't favorited a post yet.
ghenet! wonderful for groups. they don't take reservations. delicios ethiopian beers and coffee, too! enjoy...
