$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
I saw that and ALMOST bought it! I'm also curious to see if anyone of you have tried it.

Valentine's Day Chocolate Candy - The Best is _________
Quality Street Chocolates. Made by Nestle, sold in the UK. Not easy to find, but SOOOO good!

My favorite jarred food is _____
You need to have access to a Trader Joe's for this one... their jarred Bruschetta sauce is to die for. I rarely even use it as a topping. I actually add it to pasta sauces, toss it with their roasted garlic chicken sausage, add it to shrimp scampi, you name it. It's very flavorful and delicious! I could literally eat it right out of the jar.

Sauces: All I want is a good remoulade recipe
Oops... forgot to mention that it was a Celery Root Remoulade. SO good...
Sauces: All I want is a good remoulade recipe
I don't have the recipe... but I had the BEST remoulade sauce on Friday night at 51 Lincoln in Newton Massachusetts (just outside Boston). You may be able to email them and get the recipe. It was UNBELIEVABLE... and served with a smoked cod cake. For a full review of this place, check out my blog at: Boston Food & Whine
All these other recipes sound delicious too!

My favorite jarred food is _____
I often buy items I don't intend on eating because of the jar/bottle.
My parents received a gift of 3 bottles of something -- oil? vinegar? I forgot -- because I really liked the way they nestled into each other to make 1 large round bottle. They looked lovely on their own, but looked awesome together, so I HAD to buy all 3 of them. My husband grumbled because this was a gag gift that we ended up spending $60 on.
My all time favorite bottled item is salmon from Japan that's been smoked and then shredded until it's almost like powder. It was a gift from a family friend. It was so moist and tasty, excellent over hot rice. I'll never forget that flavor ever.
I like pickled okras a lot - the one with the state of Texas as a logo. Oh, Trader Joe's roasted red peppers, as well as artichokes.
We threw away 3 HUGE (could fit more than a 1/2 gallon of liquid), filled jars of pickled cukes, pickled mushrooms, and olives from the same import store minus one of each item that we tried. It wasn't rotten, we just weren't fond of the flavor and texture after the first bite.
My favorite jarred food is _____
My favorite food-in-a-jar is Patak's ... well, almost anything with the Patak brand on it: brinjal chutney, mango chutney, tomato relish, garlic pickle. The nearest Indian grocery is an hour's drive away from me; fortunately I found a good tomato relish recipe that I mean to try soon.
I use spaghetti sauce in a jar, because I don't have a good scratch recipe. My dad used to make a killer spaghetti sauce starting with raw tomatoes, and I haven't mastered it. Classico is pretty good.
Oh, and Plochman's mustard – stone ground, with horseradish. Yummm.
And just about any brand of capers.
Worst food-in-a-jar? Hmm, I once suffered through a quart of off-brand marinated mushrooms that had sugar in them. I'm not keen on Alfredo sauce in-a-jar either; Alfredo doesn't need flour in it!
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
The caviar is pretty good, really fishy smell, but I mixed it in to plain yogurt and made a dip. It was pretty good.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
I've tried the salmon caviar and it's actually really good for the price. The lingonberry jam is also another Ikea favorite.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
Ditto on the hot dog. Sometimes a good hot dog hits the spot like nothing else can. Oh crap, that really came out sounding wrong...
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
How has no one mentioned the $0.50 hot dog!!! Its half the reason I go to Ikea. It may not be gourmet eats but it definitely hits the hunger pangs caused by a million square feet of shopping!
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
Roe is far more common and cheaper across the world than most Americans realize. The rare stuff can indeed be expensive—but I'd wager that the Ikea stuff is worth its price. While that's not much, at least it is humble. And though I don't eat fast food and haven't eaten at IKEA, I certainly have eaten roe cheaper than the Abba brand that tasted far better than high end stuff. Sometimes humility leads to discovery, especially with culture. Food can be polarizing, but you only limit yourself when you shit on something you haven't even tried, emolely.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
i cannot believe this. i held 'serious eaters' in much higher esteem than to think that ikea was acceptable for eating. i wouldn't waste one calorie on that shit - caviar or meatballs.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
The desserts at the Ikea cafe are pretty good, too. I keep meaning to get lunch there one day when I'm in the area.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
I made Ina Garten's Lemon Capellini with Caviar using this Ikea caviar. It was good and added a nice salty complement to the bright lemon flavor, but I wouldn't eat it alone on a cracker!
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
I just got some tiny mother of pearl caviar spoons at Pearl River and now I will try them out on this stuff! YAY!
You know, IKEA really is a phenomenal thing, so Swedish yet abundant and full of hope. Throw in ABBA and what's not to love???
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
If it's half as good as the meatballs, I'd give it a whirl..... wish I lived closer to an IKEA.....
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
Well... it's not sturgeon caviar. It's lumpfish. So the expectation would be quite different much as salmon roe is different.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
ABBA Cavier! Mamma Mia! That's some spicy fish eggs! Gimme!Gimme!Gimme!
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
You might be able to get me to eat this caviar
... especially if the band ABBA pops out of the lid singing "Dancing Queen!"
or perhaps the little roes could line up and do a dance number to "Fernando" now that would also be really cool.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
I considered trying the caviar, but couldn't bring myself to it. But I am a HUGE fan of the Creamed Cod Roe. It's comforting to be able to eat cheap roe that isn't trying to be caviar. That Creamed Cod Roe is delicious on seeded flatbread crackers with creme fraiche.
I love IKEA's cafeteria... the shrimp and egg plate, the shrimp salad, and the gravlax plate are always so refreshing and so... Swedish tasting.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
i've actualy tried both, the black and the orange. if you expect $3.59 caviar, you won't be disappointed. otherwise stay clear of the caviar and stick to the chocolate covered toffees. i don't think i'll ever buy the caviar at ikea again. sometimes nothing is better than something.
$3.59 Caviar at Ikea
Let me just follow up and say that I had a phenomenal lunch at Ikea! I, of course, had the Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and that amazing creamy gravy and lingonberry jelly, with a lingonberry juice-water combination to drink, along with a $1 dark chocolate bar . I think the whole thing came to $6, and I couldn't finish it, and it was really very good...certainly gave me the energy to tackle the Ikea in New Haven! The Swedish food store was a gold mine; they had crab pate, caviar, and my favorite thing ever: concentrated elderflower that i can mix with seltzer for the best English floral spritzers. They also had the cutest elk-shaped pasta. It really is worth a trip for the food...You could do great things with the stuff from that market, and really enjoy not spending a lot of money. Also, from what I overheard in the check out line, the $1 frozen yogurt is "to die for."

O Ya is getting tons of national attention from the food press. I would definitely check it out if you're a Momofuku fan.
Is there anywhere good to eat in Boston?
A little outside Boston in Needham - try Sweet Basil. Great rustic Italian food located on Great Plain Ave. It's BYOB and cash only.
Is there anywhere good to eat in Boston?
Toro in the South End is by far the most consistently satisfying meal that I've found here. The salt cod fritters with fried lemon rings... so delicious.
Also not to be missed:
Tamarind Bay for some excellent regional Indian food (not your run of the mill selection) - Harvard Square
Oishii (South End) or O Ya (Leather District) if you're looking to splurge on beautiful, meticulously crafted sushi.
B&G Oyster for seafood - South End
Oleana, already mentioned by many - Cambridge (Hampshire St?)
I've heard really great things about Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain, but haven't been yet. Also, don't forget that there are great lunch/pastry places like Hi-Rise bakery in Cambridge! Hope you have a good trip!

I second the Ashmont Grill recommendation. Excellent food. Another Dorchester restaurant I would add is dBar. Gourmet food at reasonable prices (for Boston).
Is there anywhere good to eat in Boston?
I think you'll be pleasantly surprized with the number of new/hip restaurants in Boston. Here are a few that haven't been mentioned:
--Marco in the North End (Hanover Street) - small, intimate, wonderful
--Sage in the North End - actually a little better than Marco for your stated requirements (better make reservations pronto)
--Mistral (Columbus Ave) - not to be missed for quirky cocktails, impressive bar and decor, great food, and above all else, the cosmopolitan scene (probably won't be able to get in at this late date)
If you're willing to travel a little outside of Boston (and its comfort zone), both the Ashmont Grill (you'll mistake it for a NY eatery on the inside) and Blarney Stone in Dorchester offer up creative fare in hip new settings.
Enjoy and let us know of your favorites!

Whenever I'm in Boston I always end up at Tavern on the Water at Pier 6 in Charleston Navy Yard. Nothing fancy, always great service and good food for fairly cheap. Very good chowder (how can you not when in Boston?)
Is there anywhere good to eat in Boston?
Radius in the Financial District is one of the best places to eat in Boston.
Sol Azteca In Brookline is great, authentic Mexican Food.
Lumiere in Newton is Fantastic.
Brasserie Jo in the Colonnade Hotel is great Bistro Fare.
Oishii in the South End has the best Sushi ever.
