Cook the Book: 'The Pot and How to Use It: The Mystery and Romance of the Rice Cooker'

My most indespensible kitchen item is definately the rice cooker. I have had my tiger for 10 years and have just started experimenting with more than just plain white or brown rice. I now sautee onions and garlic and chilis in oil right in the rice cooker before adding the rice and make a wonderful cilantro rice with it. Would love to be more adventuresome!

Spice Hunting: Celery Seed

I am addicted to celery seed, thanks to my sister (Serious Eats Member, Jilly). The first time I ever had it my mom and sister and I went to Port Dover Ontario and had the Celery Bread. It is similar to garlic bread except its a crustless rectangular cube, all sides buttered and sprinkled with celery seed instead of garlic and baked, YUMMY!
Jilly's take on that is she always makes homemade croutons for our family favorite "The salad". they are butter and toasted with seasoning salt and celery seed. The dressing for the salad has fresh tyme and they compliment each other oh so nicely! Ever time I eat one of those croutons I think about the celery bread in Port Dover...Luv u Jilly!

What do you use maple syrup for?

We recently went on a wine tour at Kittling Ridge distillery in Niagra on the Lake and bought "Oh Canada Maple liquor" Fabulous straight up but unbelievable as a marinade and glaze for pork tenderloin!

Cook the Book: 'The Pioneer Woman Cooks'

My sister Jilly and I love Ree! Somehow we feel she is a long lost sister. We live about three hours apart and talk every morning before we start our work day usually while looking at the PW website and chatting about it and how we would love to go there! She makes us laugh and cry and salivate! We have tried many many recipes and all of them fabulous. Can't wait to get the book!

I love Rick Bayless. I have made many recipes of his and all have been fabulous. I absolutely drool over his red enchilada sauce! I will be making these green ones for sure this week end.
