Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Cake Wrecks'
After our first child was born my wife made me a birthday cake. She left the completed cake on the kitchen counter and went to tend to our barely 2 week old daughter.
Upon returning to the kitchen she saw the remains of the cake being devoured by our 1.5 year old Basset Hound.
My wife sat down and cried, then proceeded to make another cake.
It was a horrible happening but a memory we always share.

My favorite burger of all time was purchased at a greasy spoon in Albuquerque, NM. I was about 5 years old and my family and I were traveling by train from CA to KS. We had a 20 minute stop and my Mom disembarked and brought back a bag of hot burgers to my brothers and I on the train. They were delicious!
I've never forgotten that moment.

Valentine Sugar Cookies - I was sick and couldn't go to elementary school for the Valentine's Day card exchange. My Mom made heart shaped cookies and I helped decorate them with red and pink icing. That was a special day.

I live in eastern NC where the best barbecue (noun) is cooked and served with the best sides in the best atmosphere. My favorite barbecue is served at B's in Greenville, NC. They also have great sides and the atmosphere is incomparable.

My favorite barbecue joint is B's outside Greenville, NC. They have a strange operating schedule because they are closed on Monday and during the rest of the week they open at 11 am and close when that day's cooking is sold. The secret is to get there early and you will be rewarded with the best Eastern NC barbecue around.
