I would love to be able to make crunchy yummy pickles!!!
We came up with this as a "whats in the fridge" challenge and have repeatedly used with many compliments: canned pear halves (we canned our own in light syrup), slice a bit off the bottom so it will sit on a baking sheet, fill the hole with (and sprinkle the rest) with crumbled blue, add a few bacon bits and put in a 350 oven about 10-15 mins, until the blue starts melting. Take it out of the oven, turn the broiler on, drizzle a bit of balsalmic over all the pears, put under the broiler for a few, and you have an excellent appetizer!
You are all marvelous! I adore good brown gravy, (kinda like the old Joe Diffie song - Good Brown Gravy!) but it never really tasted meaty enough. Thanks for all the tips to try :)
